The true traveler would certainly have no qualms about losing a golf game or two on Hilton Head Island, if only it meant that he would have more reason to stay on the course. The golf courses on Hilton Head Island are not known for their quantity (as there are only about 20 courses) , but by the exacting nature of its designers. Many of these courses are built facing the ocean, and thus one finds the poetry of the game: the infinity of the sea coupled with the precision of golf. It is indeed hard to imagine here a golfer upset about faltering on that last swing, as golf courses on Hilton Head Island are as much natural sanctuaries as they are about competition; some enjoy the company of the sea, some the silence of pine trees, and others the stillness of a river.
This is not to say that the courses on Hilton Head Island are not difficult; on the contrary, establishments like the Shipyard Golf Club and the Port Royal Golf Club, have been cited and utilized by the Professional Golfers’ Association, and are still in full-swing. It is just impossible to feel grumpy, and not be breathless in the grandeur of the sea’s aspect from Hilton Head Island.
The golf courses on Hilton Head Island are, quite simply, the inevitable choice for both the serious golfer and the laid-back traveler.
